CORPORATEWATCH LIBERIA
Accountability · Transparency · Human Dignity

We document the harm. We also build the bridges.

CorporateWatch Liberia records what concessions cost Liberia's people — and works for the Liberia where concessions are welcomed, thrive, and truly benefit the Liberian people. Both. At the same time. Without blinking.

— The Liberia We Are Building Toward

Liberia's resources are a blessing, and investment is welcome here. A concession should leave a town richer than it found it: workers safe, water clean, wages honest, agreements kept, and a share of the wealth staying in Liberian hands. That is not anti-business. That is the only business worth having — and the only kind that lasts.

Resource Governance

Wealth managed in the open

Every contract published. Every payment reconciled. Beneficial owners named. Liberia's LEITI process and the MCC Compact Two reforms point the way — we help push them from paper to practice.

Accountability & Transparency

Rules that bind everyone

A statutory registry of industrial accidents and harm. Rulings enforced, not just issued. Fines followed by remediation the public can verify. Oversight with community seats at the table.

Human Rights & Dignity

No prosperity on broken people

Safe work, living wages, land respected, advocates protected. A worker who speaks should be heard — never hunted. Dignity is not a concession to be negotiated; it is the foundation.

— The Record

The other half of our work does not go away: the documented record of harm, kept case by case, labelled honestly — documented, reported, alleged, unverified. Records from 2005–2013 are omitted until fully verified.

The counting of harm starts with ArcelorMittal. Ground zero. Our register covers every concession in Liberia — but the harm, abuse, and unethical practice documented in the ArcelorMittal concession are on a scale beyond every other file we hold. So the count begins there — and it does not stop until every case, in every concession, is answered for.

The Corporate Database

91 registered cases: deaths, injuries, pollution, labour violations, land taken, sexual violence (protected), retaliation, unpaid wages and benefits. Public draft — still growing with every verified report.

The Wall of Clocks

Every unanswered case gets a clock: a public count of the days a ministry, a court, or a company has left a question standing. Clocks stop only when answers come.

Report Harm

Hurt by ANY concession company — mining, rubber, palm oil, forestry? Tell us in confidence. Anonymous if you wish. Your name and photo are never published without your separate permission.

— Proof It Can Work

Liberia's institutions have answered before — workers have won rulings, the EPA has fined and stopped polluters, communities have organised lawfully and been heard. Good stories are beginnings. We tell them, and we watch until they become endings.

— Our Seven Demands

1. Full disclosure of deaths · 2. Full disclosure of injuries · 3. Full environmental transparency · 4. Labour justice · 5. Compensation and remedy · 6. Independent oversight · 7. Public accountability.

We have filed where filing matters: a specific instance with the OECD National Contact Point, Luxembourg (June 2026), challenges to ArcelorMittal's ESG ratings with S&P Global and MSCI (June 2026), and a submission to the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights being filed this month (October 2026). We also write — openly — to the companies themselves, and we publish what answers, and what silence, we receive.
